The park was completely empty. Not a soul wandering around Bay Beach Park. Snow sparkled off nearby trees. The last of the sun’s rays stretching across the sky. Kissing the tree branches as they hung under the weight of the snow. Trying to give us the last bit of warmth of the day. The snow covering the ground was untouched. Like a perfect white blanket. Hiding any indication of spring. The ticket booth stood closed. Boarded up as it waited out the winter to pass. The quiet of the evening surrounded us. The distant crashing of the waves from the bay. Katie stood surrounded by the pristine snow. Fitting off every bit of chill that coursed through her body. The first signs of the temperature gracing her cheeks. The weather didn’t stop her from looking fierce as she welcomed the last few weeks of her college career.
Graduation can be a scary moment for students. There is so many unknowns in this world. For a college graduate, it is the simple questions of what is next. What are you going to do after graduation? Katie has dedicated the last four years of her life to an education degree. Student teaching the last few months and mastering her craft. She laughs as she tells me about one of her students asking for her to sign a paper for next year. It is these little pieces that add up to the story of our lives. Graduation can seem like a daunting thing but really, its just the next piece in the puzzle that is our lives.
Katie, thank you for letting me capture this moment for you. Senior year is so important especially as you say the final goodbyes to a college you have grown so much at. I can’t wait to see what you accomplish in life! I hope you enjoy these few sneak peeks from your session!
