My phone rang in my hand. Staring down at it, I smiled. My dimples deepening in my cheeks. His name flashed across the screen. My bright red razor phone chirped with glee. With my smile still in tack, I hit a green button to answer. Silently I listened. Waiting for him to speak the first words. Tonight was our first date. The butterflies were in full flutter mode. What I didn’t expect was for the noise of video games. Or the fact he hung up on me. GUYS! HE HUNG UP! Staring back down at my phone is disbelief, it glowed with a notification. He texted me to say he couldn’t wait to go bowling later. Is this guy for real?
I stood in line before a group of girls waiting to get a lane for bowling. Remember, we were 15 when we met, bowling was the cool thing to do. My stomach felt as if a million butterflies were dancing. Taking up residence in my tummy. Breathing deeply, I tried to calm my nerves. First date and all, who can blame a girl. Turning, I saw him walking towards me. Dressed in a light blue Hollister shirt that brightened his eyes to the same shade. A gray flat brim hat and a pair of blue jeans. Oh man, what I would do to have a photo of that exact moment. He smiled at me and everything melted away.
We didn’t end up kissing that night. That is a story for another day. Are you still wondering why he hung up the phone when he “accidentally” called me? Well it was silly really. Kind of. He was afraid to talk to me on the phone because he didn’t know how to say my name. I can’t blame the guy though, my name isn’t the easiest;).
Wait a minute, are you cutting into the story just now? No, no, no, go back to Part 1. Then this will make sense:)
See you next week!
Love Camille!
