The sun was setting quickly at Fonferek Glen County Park as they held hands. I told them to lean back. They needed to rely on each other for balance. I considered this easy for these two extremely athletic people. But it also speaks volumes about their marriage. Did Kyle trust Liz to hold him up? Could Liz push herself to not let Kyle fall? They slowly leaned back. Testing each others strength. They stood frozen. Pulling against each other equally. Trusting each other fully. Quietly they waiting for their next instructions. Once they fully relaxed, I took a deep breath. Without opening their eyes, I instructed them to pull each other in quickly for a kiss. Quietness surrounded us. Water running over the waterfall in the distance. Without looking they pulled each other in for a kiss.
That is one of my favorite things to do with couples as it does two things. One, it shows how much trust you have in each other. Both Kyle and Liz trusted each other. After going back and forth they finally leaned back. Much like the trust falls you did as a kid, it can be difficult to trust someone to catch you. But that is marriage. Always trusting your spouse to catch you when you fall. Liz and Kyle would always catch each other. The second thing it does it show you that you can always find your way home. With your eyes open or your eyes closed. Your spouse will always call you back home. Whether it is through leading you by hand or the singular draw you have toward each other. Kyle and Liz, you have such a strong marriage I wasn’t surprised when you easily found your way back home.
Kyle and Liz, thank you for hanging out with me at Fonferek Glen County Park. Even with the chillier temperatures that we toughed it out through, I think these images speak for themselves. You have a marriage that most aspire to. You laugh easily together. Whether its Kyle telling you what he had for breakfast or Liz not being able to control her laugher. At the end of the day, you know how to laugh together and I think that is a large compound to a successful marriage. Enjoy a few favorites from your session at Fonferek Glen County Park.
Happy One Year of Marriage. Enjoy a Whiteclaw tonight! Maybe even get one of the new mango ones:)
